Tosa West basketball player Jalen Brown has recently announced his commitment to play for the Wisconsin Badgers following his senior season next year. According to 247sports, he is ranked as the #66 ranked player nationally in the class of 2027 and #3 in the state.
Brown began his career at Wauwatosa West as a highly regarded recruit his freshman year and played a key role in a strong Tosa West team just as a freshman. In his sophomore season, Brown took a huge step up and elevated to becoming a top 100 recruit in the nation and gathered numerous division 1 offers. That same season, Brown and the Tosa West team won the WIAA Division 2 state championship, with Jalen playing a major role in the team’s success, it was obvious that he had a bright future ahead of him.
Brown had another strong season this year. According to gobound.com, Brown averaged 20.5 points per game, good for second best on the team only behind the teams other division 1 recruit Matthew Kloskey. Brown also led the team in assists, with 6.2 per game and was tied for first in rebounds with 7.2 per game, showing that he is a multi-faceted player. These stats are the culmination of hours of hard work away from the cameras and fans.
“Jalen’s work ethic is amazing,” says teammate and junior guard Max Gogin. “During practice, he’s always locked in and paying attention to coach, and puts in the extra work constantly by not only training, but knowing his scouting reports and matchups to the best of his possibilities.”
This past week, Brown announced on social media that after next season he will be continuing his athletic and academic career staying home for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Brown said “What it means to stay at home and wear that W on my chest… It feels like a dream come true. I’m grateful and honored to have a chance to play in this jersey. I get to play in front of my home state crowd and it’s going to be a great time out there.”
Jalen has already left a legacy at Tosa West, winning the school’s first basketball state championship, along with breaking records. Jalen looks to wrap up his senior season next winter as one of the greatest athletes to ever come out of Tosa West. When asked about his goals for his senior season, he said “Now that I’m committed, my main goal is to get stronger and more prepared for college. I want to come in and be able to make an immediate impact and contribute to winning as soon as possible.” After his high school career comes to an end he opens up a new chapter at Wisconsin, he hopes to carry on the same legacy he has at Tosa West.
