As Colin Pizur takes the mound, he has one thing going through his mind: “Strike this guy out!”

Whenever he is in an intense situation, he steps off, relaxes himself, and locks in with the only goal of throwing strikes.
Colin Pizur is the ace pitcher for Wauwatosa West’s JV baseball team, a role that demands daily dedication.
“Mistakes and dedication result in greatness.” Colin Pizur said.
His everyday schedule ranges from game day and team practices to personalized training. On top of all of this, having to balance school, family, and friends. Managing these tasks makes the daily life of this student-athlete an intense, fast pace, and tiring act.
Despite the chaotic afternoon that follows, Pizur’s morning routine starts off remarkably calm. His day begins early, but not with an immediate hustle. Instead, he eases into getting ready for the new day.
“I wake up, get my clothes, shower, get dressed, scroll reels, eat breakfast, make my lunch and then brush my teeth” Pizur said.

While his mornings are peaceful, the same cannot be said for his afternoons. Nearly every day of the week, Colin is either playing baseball or practicing for it. When game days are not on the schedule, he spends hours grinding through a relentless double-header of practices.
“It’s pretty easy, like it’s relaxing but energetic. But hanging out with friends and family gets annoying when I’m not able to hangout with them.” Pizur said.
His afternoon starts with practice for Wauwatosa West’s JV team, then followed by intense, specialized training at BRX Performance, a personalized training facility. Despite the heavy workout, Colin appreciates it.
“It makes me stronger so I can be the best person I can be, it also lets me be able to help my team out for baseball and lift heavy stuff when I’m at my house.”
Overall, baseball has helped Colin beyond just physical health.
“Baseball has helped me become a better person because a lot of people now recognize me as the ace of the JV baseball team. Those people make me feel good about myself and that I’m doing a good job.” Pizur said.

The Pizur family means a lot to Colin as they’ve helped him in so many different ways. He is aware of the amazing legacy that he’s setting and he thanks his father for that.
“It feels nice to have a really good father and be able to have his last name. It feels really nice. And my family remind me to do my stuff for baseball, like work out and go to hitting lessons.” Pizur said
The Pizur family legacy has also impacted a lot of Colin’s decisions for his post high school career. With that, Colin does not plan to play baseball after he graduates from West.
“I’ll probably stick with college after baseball, and high school will be my last time. Maybe play baseball in a men’s league later on, if I can, but probably not. Next year is probably my last year” Pizur said.
