The sounds of a “Spring Bouquet” will echo through the halls of Wauwatosa West Theater on Tuesday, May 12th at 7pm.
The concert is open to the public and will include a diverse program ranging from the rhythmic African Hymnsong and a medley of Armenian Folk Tunes. The band will also be performing Gustav Holst’s Second Suite in F along with other exciting pieces.
For the class of 2026, the evening is more than just a performance – it’s the end of an era.
“I’m really excited about our concert. Since I’m not going to have access to a tuba for the foreseeable future after high school, this feels like the culmination of 8 years of work.” says Senior Tuba, Elliott Engbring.
The band has been working on their concert music since February when they wrapped up their Solo and Ensemble Unit along with their Pep Band Season.
A unique feature of this concert involves every “Super Section” (Woodwind, Brass, Percussion) performing their own pieces as well that they were able to get feedback from during the Solo and Ensemble Unit.
“We’ve been working pretty hard on this music and it feels relieving to almost be finished with it.” said Senior Clarinet, Kody Xiong
In a new tradition, the seniors got to pick a piece that will be played at the performance, Urban Dances.
Bringing back Urban Dances for seniors was a unanimous vote since it was a highlight of their Freshman year.
The seniors first performed the piece during thei Freshman year (2023) when the band traveled to St. Louis for the “Music in the Parks” competition hosted by Six Flags.
During their weekend stay, a huge batch of storms (rain and hail) hit including a few tornadoes. The band had to shelter in their hotel before being able to go back to Six Flags.
“I remember sheltering in our hotel rooms in St. Louis before playing Urban Dances for a band competition at Six Flags, Freshman year.” Engbring says.
The band features 15 seniors who have been instrumental in building the program’s current culture. While Tuesday marks the final band concert for these students, the music isn’t quite over for everyone. Several seniors will take the stage one last time for the Orchestra Concert on Tuesday, May 26th, at 7:00 PM.
Come out this Tuesday to support our seniors and hear the results of months of hard work
