For the 26th consecutive year, students from Prescott High School traveled to the Lac du Flambeau Indian Reservation in northern Wisconsin to learn about Ojibwe history, culture, and government.
This year, five journalism students from Wauwatosa West joined the Prescott group for a four-day cultural immersion experience led by social studies teacher Jeff Ryan. Students met tribal leaders, visited cultural sites, and took part in traditional workshops while staying at Broken Bow Campground.
“It’s hard to describe,” said senior Emelia Berg. “You learn so much, meet so many new people, and gain a unique perspective on the world.”
The program has become a meaningful tradition—one that continues to build understanding, respect, and friendship between students and the Lac du Flambeau community.
