As the Wauwatosa West High School Trojan Players prepare for their opening night of Grease, there is a good chance that you will hear a few notes from the song “You’re The One That I Want” booming through the halls.
The Trojan Players wrapped up their third week of rehearsals on a high note. Even the cast and crew can agree that the show is coming together perfectly. Senior Jahnay Wilson, a member of the Grease cast said, “the musical is progressing quickly. It’s only our third week of rehearsal and we’ve already rehearsed more than half the show, which is impressive.”
Adam Steffan, the Wauwatosa West theatre director, added, “I think the musical is coming together very well. Grease is such a fun show and the students are really excited about it.”
And as opening night is getting closer, each cast member has their own way of preparing for the performances. Gabe Poehls, who is playing the lead role of Danny Zuko, said that he will prepare for the show by, “loosening up, drinking water, and probably by greasing up the hair.”
Everyone has their own reason for loving Grease. Maybe its because of the 50’s feel or the pop tone. Or maybe you agree with Sean Vanzeeland, a Grease cast member, who said, “I enjoy the light-hearted feel of Grease.”
Make sure to mark your calendars for the performances opening night on November 7th at 7 p.m. If you are unable to make it to the first performance at Wauwatosa West High School, there will be plenty more opportunities for you to grab a seat in the audience, including a $5 night on Thursday, November 13th at 7 p.m. Other show times are as follows: November 8th, 14th, and 15th at 7 p.m. and November 9th at 2 p.m.
