West Volleyball Season Update

On the night of September 17, 2012, Germantown High School defeated Wauwatosa West Boys Volleyball Team in an overtime match at Tosa West. Germantown and Tosa West were tied with two games each. Wauwatosa West lost their fifth match by only two points giving Germantown the win.

According to the Wauwatosa West Head Coach Kyle Sikora, “The most positive thing about last night’s game was the play from our two middle hitters (Seniors Brian Carlson and Stephen Stockinger). They consistently made play after play when we were able to get them the ball”. Varsity player Junior Andy Rowley said the best part of the game was “Getting big blocks and kills”.

In the end, the team believed that they can take what they learn from the game improve on it for the next game. For instance, Coach Sikora said, “The most negative thing form last night loss was our inability to get our middle hitters more balls. Our passing on serve receives and free balls were all over the map last night. If we want to be able to run our middles, then we need to pass well.” Rowley said, “Not being able to communicate with each other and not being able to pass”.

The Trojans defeated South Milwaukee on Wednesday, September 19th at South Milwaukee. 3 to 1.

As of September 21st, the Trojans are 4 and 1 for the season.
