The Wauwatosa West and East boys and girls varsity basketball teams will compete in the annual cross town rivalry at Wauwatosa West on Friday, February 7th. They last competed on December 20th. The Red Raider girls won 76-34, followed by a Trojan victory for the boys 101-71
The girls game will tip off at 5:30 PM, and the boys will follow at 7:00 PM.
The Trojan boys are currently 4th in the Greater Metro conference with a respectable 7-4 conference record and are currently 11-6 on the season. They are looking for a win in this heated rivalry as they take on the Red Raiders, who are 3-14 (2-10 in conference play) and are currently in 8th place in the conference.
West is in good pace to beat last season’s record of 18-9. They are closing the gap between them and 1st place in the conference only 2 games back. East isnt looking as improved as they are looking to just repeat last seasons record of 4-19. They are 7.5 games back from 1st place in the Greater Metro.
The Trojans are coming off of a narrow 88-85 win against Menomonee Falls with their top performer being Matthew Kloskley with 39 points. The Red Raiders last game also came against Menomonee Falls where they lost 93-71.
Tosa West is looking to rise in the rankings in the Greater Metro Conference with what would be their 8th conference win. Tosa East hopes to secure a few key victories before the season ends, avoiding last place.
The Trojan girls are currently 8th in the Greater Metro Conference with a 3-15 record and 1-11 in conference record. They are 11.5 games back from 1st place. They face the powerhouse 1st place Red Raiders with 19 wins over just 1 loss, that loss being an in conference game to Brookfield East along with 16 wins.
The Trojan girls’ are coming off one of their best games this season with a 45-29 win over St. Augustine Prep.
The Red Raiders recently had a dominating 70-53 victory over Menomonee Falls.
With heavy standing implications in both games, Friday will be an important night and one where both teams give it their all.
