On Friday, December 20th at 7:00 PM, the Wauwatosa West and East boys and girls varsity basketball teams will compete in the annual cross town rivalry at Wauwatosa East.
The girls game will tip off at 5:30 PM, and the boys will follow at 7:00 PM.
The Trojan boys are currently 5th in the Greater Metro conference with a respectable 2-1 conference record and are currently 6-1 on the season. They are looking for a win in this heated rivalry as they take on the Red Raiders, who are 0-5 and are currently in 9th place in the conference. Tosa West won both games in their previous two meetings last season with scores of 75-61 and 99-78.
East has a chip on their shoulder with something to prove this season. This game is sure to be exciting as Tosa West’s top scoring offense in the Greater Metro in the conference faces up against East’s stifling defense.
West is hoping to smash their 18-9 record from the previous season. East is looking to get their first win of the season as they aim to improve on their 4-19 record from last season
The Trojans are coming off of a dominating 77-65 win against the Whitnall Falcons and are ready for this matchup against East. The Red Raiders recently lost 82-78 in a close match against Menomonee Falls.
Tosa West forward Mathew Kloskey gave some insight on the key to beating East.
“They run through TJ (Ricketts) so we just need to contain TJ. If everyone plays their roles we should get this win.”
Tosa West is looking to rise in the rankings in the Greater Metro Conference with what would be their 3rd conference win.
The Trojan girls are currently 8th in the Greater Metro Conference with a 2-7 record. They face the powerhouse Red Raiders who are currently first in the Greater Metro Conference with a 9-0 record.
The Red Raider girls were able to secure wins in both their matchups against West the previous season in close 59-54 and 54-47 games.
The Trojan girls’ most recent game ended up as a 77-62 loss to Franklin. The Red Raiders recently had a dominating 60-42 victory over Menomonee Falls.
With Friday being the last day of school before holiday break, the student sections for this rival game are sure to be huge and full of excitement.
