The biggest high school football game in Wauwatosa is taking place under the lights on Friday, September 20th at 7pm.
The Tosa West Trojans will be hosting the Tosa East Raiders at Wauwatosa West for the matchup of the season. This huge rivalry game never disappoints and clearly settles the yearly debate of which Tosa football team is better.
In fact, this battle of Tosa is so big that it got over 6,000 votes for the Kwik Trip & Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week. This means that fans and football fanatics came together to vote for this as the biggest Wisconsin high school football game of the week.
However, Tosa fell 30 votes short in a nail biting ending, and sadly the Greendale vs. Greenfield game ended up coming out ahead. If you would like more information about this, visit Wisconsin Sports Network.
The Trojans have a record of 2-2 and the Raiders are undefeated with a record of 4-0.
Last week, both teams had a win. The Trojans defeated New Berlin (0 – 4) 15 to 13. The Red Raiders defeated Waukesha South (1 – 3) 42 to 7.
Although this record may intimidate the Trojans, they came out on top against the Raiders last year with a score of 22-8. However, the score from the previous season doesn’t help predict much about what the game will look like Friday night, considering that every season looks very different for both programs.
If the Raiders can come out ahead with a win, they will break the Trojans decade long winning streak in this football rivalry. A win for East would not only be a fresh start for the players and fans, but it will also put them in a good position to try to make their first playoff appearance since 2007.
Tensions are rising between teams now that we are only one day away from this annual matchup.
“When we got our schedule, we circled this game on the calendar, knowing how important it is. All the work from the offseason up until now is for this Friday night,” said Tosa East Junior Wide Receiver Jack Boomsma.
The Raiders and Trojans are both looking to prove themselves to their community, and showcase the hard work they have been putting in throughout the past months.
“We’re all super excited for this rivalry game. East has had a great season so far and is a worthy opponent. In order to win we all need to play as a team and do our part,” said Tosa West Junior Running Back Kevin Johnikin.
Expect packed bleachers and a rowdy audience for this game!
