Photography by Wauwatosa East senior Evan Decker. “These are four of my current favorite works. Each is from a different year (2017-2021) and I love each one individually for its own reason,” explains Decker.

Hong Kong Noodles by Evan Decker. Decker writes, “I took this picture on my first day in Asia in 2017 and it remains one of my favorite pictures to this day. After a long day of exploring the hills of Hong Kong, my mother and I settled on a noodle dinner in a small hole in the wall restaurant with an open kitchen.”

Haystack with Red Shorts by Evan Decker. “During a 2018 trip to the Pacific Northwest the stars aligned for me to take a picture of the legendary Haystack Rock with a smooth reflection from the heavy rain the night before. I had planned to get up early to capture the sunrise but was pleasantly surprised by the scene I found on the beach, the timely swimmer sprinting towards the surf added an extra layer to my photograph,” comments Decker.

Airplane over the Grand Canyon by Evan Decker. Decker reflects, “To this day I have never visited Arizona, but as of spring 2019, I have seen the Grand Canyon. During a flight to Los Angeles our Spirit airlines pilot flew a low flight path that gave the right side of the airbus a perfect view of the Grand Canyon. I’m fortunate I kept my backpack at my seat and that my window was clear for me to capture this moment.”

Shashuka by Evan Decker. “In 2020 I didn’t produce as many pictures as I would have liked, but I was able to capture lots of images of home cooked food, or in this case, camp cooked food. During a highlight weekend over the summer my family and friends gathered in Door County to experience the outdoors, the cooking was creative and produced beautiful and delicious food like this pan of Israeli shakshouka,” writes Decker.
