On Saturday, September 21, Alverno College is presenting its annual Global Union concert at Humboldt Park.
Global Union, a free concert, is in its eighth year of celebrating diverse music, with this year’s performance including musicians from Algeria, Argentina, Canada, Haiti, Pakistan, and Quebec, and the United States. The concert runs from noon until 6 p.m.
Here is the schedule for the concert:
12:30 p.m. – Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang
Bringing to Milwaukee an ancient art form known as Bubu, Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang combine modern sounds with West African and Islamic roots.
2:00 p.m. – Qawal Najmuddin Saifuddin & Brothers
These seven brothers perform a unique form of music popular in Pakistan, called Qawwali.
3:30 p.m. – Masonic Wonders
This Black Gospel quartet supported by four other musicians brings the sounds of Mississippi to the Humboldt band shell.
5:00 p.m. – Nomadic Massive
Featuring musicians from many different countries, this modern, multicultural hip hop ensemble performs energetic and innovative music with diverse inspirations.
