The Wauwatosa West boys soccer team will face the Marquette Hilltoppers in a huge conference matchup, on September 30th. The Trojans recently suffered a loss against the Wauwatosa East Red Raiders (7-2) by a score of 0-1. The Marquette Hilltoppers (2-4-2) recently pulled off a huge win against Hamilton High School (5-3-1) by a score of 3-0. A win in this game could mean a number one ranking in the conference for Marquette.
The game will kickoff at 7:00 PM.
After going 8-7-4 last season, expectations were high for the Trojans coming into this season.
“I’m excited for this matchup. I think Marquette is a strong team but they havent been as good as they have in the past. I think we match up well against them and I think we should be able to take the win.” Said sophomore Frankie Brown.
The Trojans currently hold a record of 3-6-1 and they are looking to add to that record with a win this coming week. They are ranked 8th in the Greater Metro Conference. Marquette currently holds a record of 2-4-2 and are ranked 2nd in the Greater Metro Conference.
“I think we will be able to get the job done. We are a good team and I feel like we have been working so hard this season to be able to come into this matchup and put it away. I feel like that hard work will show against Marquette,” said senior Diego Santiago.
Senior Captain Marshall Ellifson is feeling very confident leading his team into this game.
“Marquette is definitely a good team, even if their record doesn’t show it. I think we need to be prepared for a competitive game but I think we are ready to go and I believe we will pull out the win.” Said Ellifson.
