On a stretch of State street, 10 minutes east from the quaint and serene village of Wauwatosa lies a solitary food truck named, “Romero’s”. It is sitting just outside the parking lot of Metcalfe on the northside of the street
This humble little truck parked on the side of the road is the best place in Wauwatosa for reasonably priced, authentic Mexican food.
Delicious tacos, horchata, street corn, and more are served here. Their small menu hosts many other delicious items. Their great food combined with very quick and professional service enhances the experience even more.
I have gone to Romero’s about 5 times over the course of the last 6 months and I was not disappointed once.
You would think a place that serves great food and has great service ought to have people lining up around the clock but you would be wrong. Romero’s seems to be under the radar to the general public of Wauwatosa. It could also be because they are so efficient in filling orders and moving people along.
My favorite dish from Romero’s is the Quesabirria Tacos.
The blend of savory, juicy, and flavorful meat will literally melt in your mouth, mixed with the spicy, tangy, and fresh salsas that range from a lip puckering sour green salsa, to a mouth burning, nose running spicy red salsa. You are given a small cup of their rich broth that the Birra meat was cooked in to dip the tacos. This blend of flavors is simple but is almost unbeatable. Romero’s has almost perfected this concoction of flavors of sour, spicy, and savory. Romero’s has a combination of fresh and high quality ingredients that puts this under the radar food truck levels ahead of other Mexican restaurants.
Romero’s isn’t only just good at making tacos though.
A side I always get when I go to Romero’s is their delectable and authentic Mexican street corn. Fresh and delicious corn lathered with Mexican cheese seasoning is unbelievably tasty and a perfect side to get with their tacos. If you need to cool off your tongue you can order their sweet horchata. It is a nice mix of species and you can really taste the cinnamon in it. Some days I would just stop by the food truck to get a cup of their freshly made horchata just because I love it.
My experience with Romero’s has been nothing short of amazing.
In all the times I have visited this food truck I don’t think I had to wait up to five to ten minutes for my food even if they are a little busy. They work smart and efficiently to get you your food. You order, you pay, and they get you a small buzzer you bring with you so you don’t have to wait outside, instead you can wait in your car which is perfect for any food truck customer especially in Wisconsin when we have all different types of weather.
If you are looking for delicious food, delivered quickly, efficiently at a reasonable price, visit Romero’s Tacos. You will not be disappointed.
