The Tosa West cross country boys placed tenth in Varsity at their meet against 17 other schools in the 30th annual Muskego 5 km Race on September 20th. In addition girls Varsity as well as boys and girls JV set many PR’s and season best during the race.
“We had a crazy amount of PRs, and a crazy amount of consistent times which I mean in cross country and in track and in any running sport we’re looking for consistency and what Tosa West did today was consistency.” said Varsity boys coach, Ben Cady
Multiple racers including Mitchell Schmitt, David Cato, Sofia Saporito, and Ryan Macsurak Set a PR, well other runners like Eli Peik, Jason Liang, and Lucy Koch set season bests.
“A huge highlight today is the fact that Mitchell Schmitt took a big PR, we were stuck for a while but we got a big PR from him.” said Ben Cady
Runner Mitchell Schmitt placed 10th for the varsity boys race, setting a PR and pushing Tosa West Cross Country to new heights.
“I would say the majority of the team got good times and hit their goals. We had a really good race today.” said Boys Varsity Captain Mitchell Schmitt
Tosa West received alot of support from the many fans who showed up to cheer them on. The coaches watched the runners and gave them the boost to keep going, giving the runners their times at the 1 and 2 mile markers.
¨Ryan Mac(Macsurak) had just a fantastic race. I know that Mac is really progressing and his mental approach to the sport has been nothing short of phenomenal” said head Cross Country coach Schnieder
The races, starting at 9:00, began with a loop around the field going into the forest for the majority of the race. The track was muddy and humid making the forest course more intense then its usual difficulty.
“I would say this is an excellent course. I love the viewing areas on mile one and two and I love how it’s a loop so I can keep seeing my team come back and forth.¨ Ben Cady said. ¨Over all huge success and i think this is gonna lead us into victory for our next race” Coach Cady’s final thoughts on the meet and the future of the Tosa West Cross Country.
