Homecoming Day 3: Superheroes and Villains

If you needed a superhero to fly you to safety on Wednesday, you would have found one in the Wauwatosa West hallways as students portrayed popular superheroes as part of Homecoming Week’s Superhero Day.

West Junior Patrick Dunn explained “I am a ninja turtle because they’re awesome and I used to watch the show all the time when I was a kid.”

Other students were seen as famous comic book stars such as Captain America, Wonder Woman, Incredible Hulk, Batman, and Superman. A unique group of students came up with their own heroes to save the day. There were sightings of “Duct Tape Man”, “Spoon Man” and even“Owl Man”.

West Freshmen Jordan Tracey said “Yes, I did superhero day and wore a bow tie to match my friend who was going to wear one today as well. I noticed there were a lot of people in Batman costumes, although I don’t consider him a superhero.”

Numerous teachers dressed for the occasion.

While some teachers created their own character, others were more mainstream.  Spanish teacher Hope Bautista dressed as “Super Profe (super professor)” and Social Studies teacher Mary Johnston came as “Pinterest Woman” while Business Education teacher Dan Prothero came as though he was prepared for to save Gotham City as Batman.

Several people found the characters they portrayed to be fun and out of character. Junior Angi Santiago said, “I wish I could be a superhero every day.”  Senior Katie Cook said, “(It was) fun to see other peoples ideas they came up with.”
